Cherry Dump Cake #2 ~ Sausage-Salsa-Cream Cheese on Corn Muffins ~ Whitney Houston Candlelight Vigil

Good 30º morning. No idea what it looks like outside. Too dark yet. Pressure going up so supposed to get some sun today? Hmmm.... maybe.

**Retraction** I have no clue as to why I put Margarita Day on my blog on January 20th. Not one clue! Trish had pointed it out, thank you for that, and I thought it had been on my blog recently too, and so I have checked and rechecked my sites and all say it's February 22nd. Sorry. But, I did get it right for yesterday!

Dang, gas has jumped from $3.77 to $3.99 in two days. That is for regular 87 octane. Scary.

Yesterday was haircut day. Always a great time. Leah, my go to hair girl, is just the most fun! We laugh a lot, tell lots of stories, and even Ruchelle, Crystal, and Lisa contribute to the insanity. We discussed what Patty had told me that they now have peanut butter flavored vodka!

OMG. I WANT some of that. We decided we would mix it with chocolate vodka and have a "Reeces Martini". So, when I left the beauty shop I stopped at the liquor store. Nope, they had not heard of it, but will look into getting some. I found a web page that says in Oregon they have to order it through the state run liquor somethingorother control. I'll check back with them. Sounds too good. And lo and behold, I found this recipe on the NutLiquor site..

That does sound awfully sweet, but worth a try!

Also heard there is now a 'Avocado' Liquor. Hmmm... wonder about that. Just doesn't sound that good, as much as I love avocados. I do like, however, the walnut liquor Nocello... from Italy. Sip some of this in front of a snuggy warm fire.... yowsa!

I am still fooling around with the cherry dump crockpot mess. I put the ingredients along with a small can of crushed pineapple in my small crockpot..... I didn't put in all the cake mix, left out 6 oz of an 18 oz package...

It had to cook for 6 hours on low ....

For me... TOO sweet! Tasted like eating just sugar on top. Although, the mixture of crushed pineapple with the cherry pie filling was GOOD! One more experiment with this.... problem is with the cake mix we always made this dump cake in a 13x9 pan... so the topping was thin. Will keep you posted....

Dinner last night was good. Took a package of sausage, cut it up and heated in olive oil. Added a jar of Tostitos salsa and about 1/3 of a cube of cream cheese and 4 diced Roma tomatoes....

I cooked some corn muffins and then served the sausage mixture on top of the broken up muffins....

International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day is a day for the dogs. And, that's because there is no one else who can really appreciate the true value of a dog biscuit. They say "Every dog has his day". And, it will definitely be his day, when you give him some tasty dog biscuits.
You might appreciate their value in pleasing your dog, as a reward for behavior, or enticing them to do a trick. But, the dog is the recipient of the treat.
Celebrate today by giving your dog a few dog biscuits.

Sue,
LOL Daryl posted that candle light vigil pic on his FB last week and got some grief for being "insenitive"! He responded saying Hey! I just shared it from someone else!

No problem with two Maggie Days close together! As I said before, ANY day is Maggie Day for me!! lol

Gotta run as there is so much to do to get ready to fly out of here tomorrow for the CRP Convention. Oh yes and our meeting of the DBRWF tonight! :(

Have a good day!
XOXO Trisha

I would love to word combat with anyone who thinks I am "insensitive" ... Whitney had a beautiful voice for a while, then she became a drugged out idiot. I will give sympathy when I's deserved. This Houston thing has turned into a Michael Jackson fiasco. Yes, and so did Michael entertain us, but as for feeling bad they are gone,no. Horrible influence they have/had on people. Like Charlie Sheen, another drugged Dumbo! They have done nothing for our Country, but show off their pathetic side so all the youth can say, "She/he takes drugs and are talented and popular and rich. That message.... sucks.

a tribute to Whitney..... a candle light vigil in her honor... I'm with you on that one! To listen to the media you'd think that any day now the Pope will declare her a saint!
Your picture of the obamanation hits the nail on the head. Always blaming the 'previous administration' for everything. I don't think he deserved all that space on your blog, a teenie, tiny picture of him is all he's worth.
Celebrate today by giving your dog a few dog biscuits Done! And a hearty 'thank you' with slurps from
Have a great day. E

Sue,

Absolutely agree re Whitney! All that talent and beauty and opportunity and she chose to flush it!
Now, here is the saddest thing! Her young daughter of 18 is now doing drugs too! Well, what did they expect when she was raised watching her parents get high most of the time??
All I can say is what life wasted! Pretty pathetic too that Christy flew flags at half mast for her! That should be reserved for HEROS!!

I am glad I read the comments before I opened the vigil.

People are important for as many reasons as there are starts in the sky.

Lowering the flag in Houston's memory does not stop us from honoring our military- the living and the dead.

We choose our memories. I remember nothing of any Super Bowl game with the awe of when Whitney Houston brought life to our National Anthem in a way that even the few who can, do.

Because her artistic brilliance made that possible, how much more tragic was her fall from grace? For which she paid the ultimate price. That is the lesson.

Did open the Fonda link. Good grief.

I am proud that when my son worked in a gun shop- anyone who hinted they wanted to know the "stopping power" of a weapon- context did not matter- they were escorted to the exit and not let back in.
