Coyote ~ Breakfast Wrap ~ Crab Feed

Good 30º somewhat cloudy pretty and cold morning!

Slept good until 7:45. This is becoming a habit. I wake up at 3, 4, or 5 (Maggie has to go out...) but manage to go back to sleep now and it's great!

This is the Yankee / Dixie quiz...... Fun!
I guess being born and raised in So. Cal and not that much influence from my Southern Daddy... I am:
"36% Dixie. You are definitely a Yankee."

Ok, I know you might have seen this before, but it's so worth watching again for the big smile it will put on your face!

(Thanks Lynn Helbing for sharing this!)

Yesterday was one of those frozen days...

Can you see the spec to the left running up the hill? Well, that is a coyote. There were two of them down there and Maggie started barking, I grabbed my camera, and one took off while the other took a little longer....

... and then he stopped and looked at me.....

Cute face!!!

Breakfast was sauteéd fresh mushrooms and egg beaters... lots of cheese, fresh parsley (I have some potted I keep in the house in a sunny window.) and wrapped in a spinach wrap.

Really good! And Harley loved the extra egg and cheese!

Then to dinner...... I met Dee and Dale and Kathy and Tom (Happy Birthday yesterday, Tom!) at the Elks for the "all you can eat crab feed". Our table was set for 6 and there were only five of us, so they seated a single person with us, who turned out to be Bill. Dale and Dee knew him. Viet Nam vet with many many interesting over the top war stories! A Purple Heart Vet with lots of wounds. An Army Ranger. Pulled Marines and Army guys out of situations in a helicopter. What a great guy! AND he shows standard size Schnauzers. What cute and interesting dogs!

Anyway, the 6 of us had a good time. Bill wasn't a 'set up', I don't think...... Really folks, it wasn't a date!!!! Here is the group...

L to R: Tom, Dee, Kathy (Tom's wife and being silly), Dale, and Bill.

Our dinner was HEAVEN...

I had three or four helpings of the crab (lost count) and was stuffed. My it was good. We also had beans and a coleslaw that was really good! Dale kept our wine glasses filled! (Thanks, Dale!) The crab was caught about 1500 hrs on Friday. It was brought back (700 pounds of it!) to the lodge and Friday night they cooked it. What a job! There was a few pieces left and a lady bid $30 for it to take home. Dee was sweet and slipped some into a bag for me to bring to Harley. He hasn't had any yet, but he will be in Heaven when he gets it later.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Alfredo Cobar~!!~ (A good friend and great neighbor from Temple City.)

In the summer of 1977, Claudine Longet was on trial for the death of her boyfriend and Olympian, Spider Sabich. She had been living with him in the famous ski resort town, Aspen Colorado. Spider asked Claudine and her three children to move out. On March 21, 1976, Spider returned home from skiing and took a shower. Claudine, who had been drinking white wine at a local bar, approached him in the bathroom with a .22 caliber pistol and asked him how to use it. Her story was that it accidentally fired into him. Andy Williams flew into Aspen to be by her side. Andy stayed at the home owned by John Denver. She was convicted of negligent homicide and spent thirty days in jail. Claudine never spent any jail time and asked the court if she could fly to Mexico. They allowed it. She ended up marrying her defense attorney. There are no current photos of Longet. She lives under the radar and resides in Aspen.

Great action shots of the coyote - even more fun to see is the way he looked back at you :) Thanks for sharing those pictures.
That's wonderful you had such a great time at dinner yesterday. I hope Harley appreciates the crabs you brought home for him.
