Fog ~ Windy So. Cal ~ Darling ~ Mutts & Fritters Day

Good 30º foggy morning. It's cccooold but there is no ice on the barn roof. Weird. Must be the fog. It came in early yesterday and as the sun was going behind my mountain there was a patch of sunlight on the trees on the mountain behind me and I ran out to catch a neat picture....

Too late. The fog had taken over just that quick!
My mountain was disappearing too......

The wind in So Cal was devastating. Got this from my daughter about 9:30am yesterday:
"Hi. No power at my house since midnight. No power at work. Fence fell down. Stuff flew off the roof. Left the dog in the house. It's crazy here. Will send pictures when I can."

Schools were closed in Pasadena, So. Pas, Arcadia, and San Gabriel. She had to go to work (Coolidge School in San G) to let all the parents and kids know there was no school. I talked to Kristen about 2:30 and she said the winds were picking up. Then talked to her about 4 and she was heading to a friends to spend the night. She still had no power and it wouldn't probably be restored until some time today. Lots of trees down in her neighborhood. A big mess is right.

Today would have been the birthday of my Darling.
He would have been 71. OMG. How can that be!

♥♥Happy Birthday my love!♥♥ RIP. I miss you so much!
Sigh..........................

Here is an interesting story..... thanks Rod Johnson for this!
Moose Up a Pole!!!

When you think you've seen everything....
Without the picture, this would be hard to believe.
Read under the picture.

Pogo Moose Incident - Columbia Falls , Montana . North Western Energy crews were laying new power cables which were strung on the ground for miles. The moose are rutting right now and very agitated. He was thrashing around and got his antlers stuck in the cables. When the men (miles away) began pulling the lines up with their big equipment, the moose went up with them. They noticed excess tension in the lines and went searching for the problem. He was still alive when they lowered him to the ground. He was a huge 60 inch bull and slightly teed off!

December 2nd
National Mutt Day

Can you help save 10,000 mutts across America on Dec. 2? Animal Welfare Advocate Colleen Paige created National Mutt Day to embrace, save, celebrate and raise awareness of the plight of mixed breed dogs. According to the site, mixed breeds "end to be healthier, better behaved, they live longer and are just as able to perform the duties of pure bred dogs - such as bomb and drug sniffing, search and rescue and guiding the blind."
* Adopt a mixed breed mutt.
* Contribute time or a small $5 donation to a local animal shelter.
* Spay or neuter your dogs.
* Watch your favorite mutts in action: Benji or Old Yeller.
............and it's
National Fritters Day

Sue,
Loved the pics and your thoughts about your Jerry on this day, his bday. My heart goes out to you.
Oh my! What devastation those winds made! I am shocked that we didn't get all that up here. Guess I slept thru the worst of it night before last. Daryl thought it was going to take the skylight off his bedroom roof.
Becky is without power too and had no candles or flashlight. She bought them the next day! Hope no one loses much food from frig and freezer!
Loved the moose story. How weird was that!!
Ahhh corn fritters! When at Parnell School we used to be so thrilled when they served those for lunch! We ate them with maple syrup! Oh yum!

Please let our DD girls know if and when you are coming down for Christmas. We need to plan lunch!

Oh yes, there was a restaurant in Monrovia or Arcadia my parents and I would go to and have fritters with syrup. YUMMMMMM!

Will be spending Christmas here this year. Sorry. With Maggs and her problems and old old Harley I just can't justify leaving them. You understand. xo

Gabe was amazed at the pictures of the really young Marine named, Jerry Maxwell. Then he saw the picture of Jerry with his cigar and helmet. He said, "Now that's Jerry."

Your Jerry was such a pistol. They don't make them like him anymore. Only an equally strong personality such as yourself could be his match.
