More Deer ~ Watermelon Marty ~ Chicken Casserole

Good 51º, 81% humid cloudy morning....

I had Chaka in my blog yesterday in her pool and then my friend Erika sent me this one of her Jake.....

Get that water Jakey boy!! Too cute!

Are you from Temple City, Arcadia, Monrovia, Pasadena????
Check this... it will make you homesick!!!
Yesterday was a day of puttering inside. I now Maggs was happy I didn't go anywhere, as she spent the day in the cool house and mostly watching critters out my bedroom slider!

So, by afternoon it was hot and the AC went on. Then a watermelon martini sounded good....

Seedless watermelon, pureéd, strained, vodka, splash of margarita mix and a little lemon juice. Mmmm mmmm mmmmm.....

Dinner was interesting. I just pulled stuff out of the cupboard... I had this awesome smoked chicken from Bill and Jeannie...(sooo moist and tender and GOOD! I wanted to just eat it all out of the bag!)

So I cut it up and put it in the bottom of a casserole dish.. then I mixed ...

and some of my canned artichoke hearts.. and minced garlic...

Mixed that and poured it over the chicken... then cooked some:

and put that on top with some grated mozzarella cheese. Baked for 15 in a 350º oven.

Really really good!!!

The moon was big last night...
Didja see it?

....and today Steve and Barb Voors' daughter Vanessa is celebrating her big 35th! Happy Birthday Vanessa!!

... and my friend Ruth Broadman, President of our JCRW, is celebrating her special day today too. HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUTHIE!!!

Ravens vs crows...
Ravens weigh 4 times more than crows.
Raven's wingspan is 3.5-4' and crow's is 2.5'
Raven's have pointed wings and crow's wings are blunt.

Raven's throat feathers are 'scraggy' and stick out when he caws.
As for the old "Ravens walk, crows hop" I can't find proof that was ever true. They both walk. Well, to me it's more like a saucy saunter. The tail feathers swing side to side, exaggeratedly.

All I know. Sunday. Costco? Who knows.

I had to laugh at you. You will make a martini out of anything.
The deer are sure happy in your yard. They could be living in our house by the time we get home tomorrow. That is my plan to come home tomorrow. CE might think different. Patty

Yes, well, I'm the experimenter all right! Don't know if you will like something until you try. I do like the watermelon marty and the cucumber too.

Sue,
My mouth is watering with your pics of the yummy looking coctails, not to mention your dinner creation! You are amazing!
I have a bar FULL of all kinds of interesting bottles but don't have a clue what to make with them.

Love your herd of deer right there by your window. So Maggie doesn't mind them being in the yard?

Maggie won't chase the deer, and I do think she likes watching them. Thanks T! xo
