JCRW Ronald Reagan Barbecue ~ Chop Suey & Lemon Day

Good 64º Monday morning!

Yesterday was quite a busy and long day. It was our Jackson County Republican Women's Ronald Reagan Barbecue. It was held from 1-5pm at the Eagle Point Golf Club. Pat and I manned the Membership booth..

Here is the basket for the silent auction my committee put together ....

And our President Ruth with Oregon State Senator Jason Atkinson... (Love this guy!) representing Central Point.

And Sal Esquivel (wife Jan to the right) is a member of the Oregon State Legislature representing Medford.. (Love this guy too! and Jan!!) http://www.leg.state.or.us/esquivel/

Lunch was wonderful, barbecued chicken with salads and desserts. The meat barbecued by Mr. Marty! He told me he's from California ... Monterey, and will be opening a barbecue restaurant in Medford in the next 6 months... he will call it Cali-Q. I look forward to that.

Our 'wine' lady, Sheila set a bottle of red and white on each table.

.. and at our table I enjoyed lunch with Pat, Felicity, and Val and this fun couple... Pat (another one!) and her pal Jim... Pat collected the money for the 50/50 drawing...

This Pat is going to be one of our SOW Sistas (Southern Oregon Winos) and Jim will be an 'associate member !!! LOL

Got to the golf club early and stayed late to help pack up tents, table cloths, decorations. Maggs was happy when I got home finally after 6. PJ had come up and let her inside the house when the heat got high in the afternoon.

Fresh lemon juice may put a pucker on your kisser, but it's truly deserving of its own day of recognition. Vital to making lemonade and many cocktails, it's also an important ingredient in countless recipes! And it's a garnish for seafood lovers!

A dish made popular in America by 19th century Chinese immigrants, chop suey is a delicious hash of meats, bean sprouts, celery and more.

LOVED your event yesterday! Just my kind of folks! They look like so much fun, make gorgeous baskets, make wonderful food and have wine to go with! Best of all they are good "R"s! Yup! My kind of people! :) Looked like so much fun! Wish I could have been there! So glad you have some good "R" representatives up there! So nice!
What with our stupid redistricting lines here we are losing some of our best ones!
Wish we could send you some of our Dems but I know Oregon has plenty of their own!

Great photos! Tks for sharing!

What a busy day, and I hope you were able to recruit more GOPs. We registered again because of our move. Don't want to miss a chance to vote now. Dick's brother stopped by yesterday with his end of season tomatoes. When he learned I was making chorizo/potato old fashion tacos for dinner asked if he could stay. Of course, he could. Another hot one here in the shadow of Palm Springs. About 113. When we went to the doctor last week, we drove by George Montgomery (Blvd or ?). I told Dick he was one of his favorite blondes' father. Huh? Elizabeth. Have a good one, and rest! Sarah signing off.
