Applegate Ranch BBQ ~ My new iPad ~ National Dog Day

Good 59º, 84% humid morning. UGH. I know, I know, nothing like Texas or the South, or Palm Springs. Just need to whine! Or wait, maybe I just need to wine! Darn, too early!

My "babies" aren't babies any more! Alex (aka Jelly Bean) is now in 10th grade and Jack (aka Doodle Bug) in 7th grade. This is their first day of school picture taken Monday ...

.... and then I found this one from 2005...

OMG, too cute!!!

Thanks Laura Angel for this!

Just so you know, I'm not still in the dark ages. I did get an iPad ....

Applegate Valley Ranch for a BBQ last evening.... Would have been PERFECT if Jeannie hadn't gotten sick and she and Bill couldn't make it. Also Candy is having a procedure today on her back so she and Bob had to cancel.... As it was PJ & Dave, Dee & Dale, Joe & Joann all made it and we did have a great dinner and a good time.

Missy was a great hostess and a very busy woman...

And the BBQ was fired up....

Entertainment was this pretty lady on the drums and her partner on guitar. Both sang. Very nice.

....and the food was Salmon or rosemary chicken and sirloin steak, salad was apple with Snickers! OMG GOOD! Maybe if I beg Missy she will give me the recipe! The beans were good with jalapeños and bell peppers and onions. Perfect corn on the cob and toast. The dessert was a HUGE chocolate cake.

I took the smoked peanuts I had made and everyone seemed to really enjoy them. Fun evening guys! Thank you good friends.

A young man came up to me and asked if I got stopped much because of my license plate (IM 417) and I asked him how he knew what it meant. He, Ray, was an Orange Co (CA) Deputy and now working for Jackson County. Nice man. Lucky guy, he has a pretty wife and a beautiful daughter! Hi Ray! Also, our friend Jon Ainsworth and his family was there. Good to see Jon. He's former Lt with Simi Valley PD and now working for Josephine Co Sheriff's office. Hi Jon and Jean! Congratulations on the new grandson!

OMG, this is fun... Air Swimmers....the last scene is GREAT!!!

Didn't read all the links yet, but had to tell you I made that Apple/snickers salad before with my Mom. I will have to track down that recipe to see if it is the same one you had last night. All the food looked great. Your outfit was sooo cute! You looked marvelous my dear. Sure sorry we missed out!

Sue,

What wonderful looking food and great friends! You are sure blessed.
I couldn't get over that Obama bus tour. Not one but TWO busses and the never ending radio cars! Talk about tax payer $$$$. Amazing and disgusting! (I am wondering if Moochele had her own bus and was in the second one! Ha!) Well she did go in a separate airplane to Martha's Vineyard!
The RR teaches school was a hoot too!

Oh your grand kids are adorable! Dosen't Alex look like her mom? Seems to me she does.

I don't understand the patch on your eye in your pic.

Yes, your grandkids have grown up so much. What a beautiful young lady Alex is. Jack will be a handsome young man. What happened to your eye in the last picture of you? Now I get it. It is your new I PAD. I was a little slow for a minute there.
The BBQ looks wonderful. Maggie is checking up on What's for dinner.

IM 417. Avalon Jewelers in Bellflower, the Dept's. unofficial jewelery store for years. Phil, the owner, at one time was a reserve Dep. at Lkd. The Lic plate on his Vet is "417 VET". FYI!
"Ipad" - No comment :)

When Jerry first wanted the plate 417 it was on a Vet belonging to a San Gabriel copper. So he got IM 417. When we left Ca his friend Sid wanted that plate for his car. Moved here and nobody knew what it meant...natch, only former CA coppers. Interesting the comments I get. One old man in town asked me the meaning and I told him "Ca penal code for brandishing in a rude or threatening manner". He put his arm around my shoulder and said, "Is that what they got you for?"
