Origami Radish ~ Crazy LBB ~ Caviar Cream Cheese Dip

Good 57º, very cloudy, morning.

Just to make a point, if you are going to be gone and don't need the aggravation of a ton of emails, just let me know and I'll take you off my daily drivel list until you want back on.

Interesting day yesterday. Rain on and off all day long. July? Are you kidding me? I took this picture about a quarter to five in the afternoon. I had a sweatshirt on. July? Sweatshirt? Sigh...  Different, honey.

I had promised Claire I'd get some petitions signed and back to her yesterday. They are for a couple of members of the Rogue River school board they want recalled and on the ballot in November. So, did that. In the process went to Patty and Cliff's to install their AOL on their laptop they use at the coast. Success. Had stopped at PJ and Dave's earlier. Got signatures there and from PatC who had stopped by. Then Maggie got nutty and took off for the area down by the road. I was worried and went after her. Well, as it turned out there was a dead "something" down there and it got on her radar. Dave said it's a possum .... You decide....

Ok Ok Ok.... I put this on here for a reason. I rarely (just from a very few pals) get 'comments' on my blog. I know it's read, but I do put a little effort into it and would like to hear what more of my readers think. So, Mr. Possum or whatever he is, ought to generate comments! I did get my a** chewed for my lemon/poppy seed cake because I used Canola oil. I also got told how "wonderful and loved" Barbara Stanwyck was, even though I couldn't stand watching her movies! So you see, it's generally something that touches people, pisses them off, or they feel a need to educate me that gets the comments. Knock yourselves out with this one kids!!! LOL

I came home and the 'guys' were hanging out in the back....

Claire and her daughter Lizzie came to pick up the petitions. Lizzie had made me an origami radish....

Now, how cool is that! Thank you Lizzie!

Poured a wine, chatted on the phone with a couple of friends, and watched the hummers on the porch....

There is this LBB (little brown birdie) that has taken up residence on the perch on the blue birds house. The blue birds have babies in there but this guy thinks the babies are his. There have been confrontations...The momma came to feed the babies and LBB was inside the nest!

She got scared and flew away...
So, for now, LBB sits on the perch. Don't know what will happen if the babies don't get fed. (Don't write me and tell me. I get it!)

He's back there this morning! Must have a nut loose. Poor baby birdies.

And right outside the door is that lavender plant. It's "buzzing" with bunches of yellow bees....

And it smells wonderful!

Historically this date....

1969 – After a party on Chappaquiddick Island, Senator Ted Kennedy from Massachusetts drives an Oldsmobile off a bridge and his passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne, dies.

1940 – Joe Torre, American baseball player and manager

1950 – Sir Richard Branson, British entrepreneur

Okay Miss Sue, That is really a gross picture you have on your Blog today. Gross enough that
I am going to put a copy of him/her on my fridge so when I want to eat something I will turn
away and get sick. . .thanks kiddo, probably one of the BEST diets I will ever be on! ! !
BLESS YOU!!!

Linda

Linda.... you are too funny for so early in the morning!!! xo

Your LBB is an English Sparrow it looks like, and it is looking to take over the nest. I would interfere with it's efforts. Once these guys get established, they take over ALL of your Abodes. No more Bluebirds!
Just saying this from experience. Let me know if you think it's another species.

Yeah, it's an Opossum carcass. I always thought they were the most ugly, live and dead.

Hi Gary. Thanks for input. I know it's a sparrow, but Jerry would call them "Little Brown Birdies", hence: LBB. Funny, never knew sparrows were so agressive. Interesting.

Sue, Unless I'm traveling, your daily post is an immediate read after it comes in each day. I've so enjoyed the pictures of your "spread", mountain and the critters who live in the area, as well as the bird population and your personal fur friends, Maggie and Harley. You are a talented photographer, gardener, giving us a peek into the rural lifestyle. I just love it..XO Edda

I agree PJ, seeing animals meet their demise on the road is just sad. As for the o'possums.... they are refered to as "the real taste of the south"! GAG. Here's a site with recipes...

Sue,
You said you put a "little" effort into your blog each day? It looks to me like you put in a LOT of effort as it is always full of wonderful pics, recipes, happenings and so much fun! We all appreciate your efforts so much. Even IF I am traveling I don't want them to stop. I read them all when I return.
As for that gross picture, I hurridly scanned past it. Don't want to look. lol As you say "I am such a girl"! lol
I, too, loved The Village People and their music. The most fun I've had was dancing on table tops (or on top of the bar) at Senor Frog's in Mazatlan, Mex. to "YMCA"! lol
Way to go in helping in the recall campaign!

Hugs, Trisha

1. Hey since you are into 927D animals why not look around for that skunk and take its photo? He ought to be looking/smelling pretty good by now!
2. "Poured wine and watched the humming birds". Are you putting wine in your hummingbird feeder? That should be cute.
3. 69 Olds was a neat car. Too bad it ended up in the drink. Wonder if they were able to save it?
OK "Nuff" said. I have a life. Bye 4 now!

Ike, I uderstand Mr. Skunk was down at my neighbors and Frank missed is op to shoot it. Oh well, he's somewhere and stinky and dead. Get a whiff periodically. Ha re the wine in the hummer feeder, I mix the syrup in an old vodka bottle and my friend was over the other day when I had just filled the feeders. She thought I was putting in vodka. LOL Remember when the ledges outside Narco at HOJJ were sometimes laden with "pills" and the pigeons were going nuts????

After some research, I too think POSSUM but the feet do not appear to match the photos I saw. Perhaps DNA samples are in order. I tried to see if there was a pouch, but that as well as genitals appeared either missing or the dinner of "deatheaters"! (I saw Harry Potter yesterday.) Frankly, when you first posed the question I thought it might be poor sad skunk. From the looks of things though, I believe the possomlike creature died of an accident as it is obvious by the shape of his mouth he was trying to swallow a beach ball. Silly critter, everybody knows beachballs have no nutrition.

It was either a beachball or the tires on the vehicle who ran him over! :o(

I will give my roses leftover wine- bu tnot the hummingbirds? If you ever see me sucking on a feeder- you know I changed my mind and decided to help them out):-

Some lady in Chino died hanging a bird feeder.
Not sure I want to know the details any more than I want to smell the roadkill.

Oregon Sue said...

Yes, probably the bird feeder incident is more than we need to know!

As usual, beautiful pictures. the one of the hummingbird is gorgeous. The one of the dead animal...very CSI...lol!

O

Oregon Sue said...

CSI? O, you are funneeeee. It goes along with feces identification here. If you are hiking around and run into a steaming pile of bear poop, best beat feet outta there! xo
