Bulldog ~ Pasta w/ Salmon Asparagus ~ National Milk Chocolate Day

Good 47º beautiful day.

Ya know, Bulldogs are something else. You will love watching Gus.... the word 'bulldogged' applies here... stubborn, smart, funny....     (maybe, just maybe, that is why our LASD Homicide has a Bulldog for a mascot! ya think?)

Yesterday I putzed around making and designing birthday and anniversary cards. Maggie and I took a quick run to the Post Office to get one mailed off so it won't be late. Came home and made another "Sue Meal" ... a one pot wonder. I had 2# of asparagus I had bought at Costco. (If you are not going to eat fresh asparagus right away, store it at room temp with the ends in water.)

I chopped the asparagus, added olive oil to the pan, and sauteéd it al-denté.  Added onion, garlic, and some red pepper flakes. Added 2 cans of salmon, sauteéd a bit more. Added a can of black olives (always!), diced tomatoes, and sliced mushrooms (also, always!). Cooked the remaining Anellini (pasta) and added that along with the Lay's Baked Potato Dip. GREAT~!!!!!!!

One day, shortly after joining the PGA tour in 1965, Lee Trevino,
a professional golfer and married man, was at his home in Dallas,
Texas mowing his front lawn, as he always did.
A lady driving by in a big, shiny Cadillac stopped in
front of his house, lowered the window and asked,
"Excuse me, do you speak English ?"
Lee responded, "Yes M'aam, I do"
The lady then asked,
"What do you charge to do yard work ?"
Lee said, "Well, the lady in this house lets me sleep with her".
The lady hurriedly put the car into gear and sped off.

I like Trevino. A funny friendly guy. Someone I'd like to meet....

After he was struck by lightning at the 1975 Western Open, Trevino was asked by a reporter what he would do if he were out on the course and it began to storm again. Trevino answered he would take out his 1 iron and point it to the sky, "because not even God can hit the 1-iron." Trevino said later in an interview that he must have tempted God the week before by staying outside during a lighting delay to entertain the crowds, saying "I deserved to get hit...God can hit a 1-iron".
Trevino has also said: "I've been hit by lightning and been in the Marine Corps for four years. I've traveled the world and been about everywhere you can imagine. There's not anything I'm scared of except my wife."
Trevino has called his wife, Claudia, "his rock." He also credits her with jumpstarting his career again when he considered retiring due to old age, saying "those clubs don't know how old you are."

mmmmm Sue, loved that concoction! I always enjoy seeing the photos as you add the ingredients.
Glad you posted the video of our little friend, Gus. That is just so precious! That boy was a determined little guy! I wonder what he did once he got it in the house. :)
Gotta run and get ready for trip to Vegas!

Sue,

My husband and I took a redeye flight to Springfield, Mo in the early 70's and had the pleasure of meeting Trevino at the Twin Oaks or maybe it was the other one there. His Brother J.T. had memberships at both. His next door neighbor was Payne Stewart's Dad and a golf pro himself. Lee was one of Harold's favorites and it was exciting to meet him for the first time in that setting. Very down to earth and smiled alot except on tough shots. A real honor to socialize with him when we were golfing and attending major tournaments. :)

XO E.
