No Freeze ~ Sun ~ Dude/Bruiser ~ Trish Bowler ~ Uninstall ~ Brian ~ House of Maxwell ~ Cutting Onions ~ Fruitcake

Good 33º morning. Stayed at 33º all night. Nice. No frozen hummingbird feeder!!!
Boy that freeze yesterday was something. I am still such a Southern California wussy girl, even after living here 20 years!! LOL. Burrrrrr....
            ..........."Slight"???? Ha!

When it had warmed to 31º and a bit of sun came out, the ice on the barn roof started evaporating into steam...

Dude was on the lookout for something down by the gate and the Bruise was just patrolling....

Special birthday today... daily drivel pal, Trish Bowler is celebrating. HAPPY BIRTHDAY T!!!! Hope it is super for you! xoxoxoxoxoxo

Everyone I know, except Vi and Joan K will love this:

Brian flew back from California yesterday. He didn't leave LAX til 5:30pm. OMGOSH. Driving to LAX from the San Gabriel Valley at that time of day, and especially to LAX where everyone in California was flying back home from!!!! He texted me from Portland about 8pm. One more leg and he was home by 10:30. Jen and kids will drive back Friday.

For Christmas I got Marie and Aaron this sign..

I have one and also...

and gave one to Brian & Jen a few years back.

I see that lots of folks post pictures of wearing goggles or glasses when cutting onions so they don't cry. A long time ago I heard of lighting a candle when doing this and it works! Light a candle and set it on the cutting board with the onion.
Cut away. Always works for me.

Later, chair, wine, TV, and fire... look at Mr. Cozy...

Cold weather has depleted the stack of firewood on the porch, guess that will be my job today.... ick.

Last night's NFL game:

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Tuesday. Ciao.

National Fruitcake Day

Today is National Fruitcake Day! Although fruit cakes are certainly a delicious treat to enjoy around the holidays, they are quite possibly the most popular item for re-gifting. A whopping 38% of people say they give fruitcakes away when they receive them!
Nevertheless, fruitcakes have remained popular for thousands of years. The Ancient Egyptians buried their loved ones with fruitcakes because they believed this particular food was essential for the journey to the afterlife. The Crusaders were known for eating fruitcakes during their campaigns. The small cakes could withstand long journeys without spoiling and were full of nutritious items like dried fruits and nuts.
To celebrate National Fruitcake Day, buy one of these holiday treats at your local grocery store to share with friends!
Yes, sadly everyone doesn't like fruitcake. I do!! Here is what is left of the one I got at Costco. I keep a fork with it so I can nibble as I go by...
